Every Billboard Hot 100 Single 1970 #40. “Travelin’ Band”/ “Who’ll Stop The Rain”- Creedence Clearwater Revival. The highest debuting single for the week of January 31, 1970- another great two sided Creedence Clearwater Revival single.
- Single: “Travelin’ Band”/ “Who’ll Stop The Rain”
- Record Company: Fantasy
- Genre: Rock
- Written by John Fogerty
- Time: “Travelin’ Band” 2:05/ “Who’ll Stop The Rain’- 2:24
- B-side: A double A-side single
- Album: Cosmo’s Factory
- Grade: A+ for both songs
- Peaked at #2 spent 10 weeks in the Billboard Hot 100.
During their short time as a band Creedence Clearwater Revival had 20 Hot 100 singles. Incredibly they had 5 singles peak at #2, 1 at #3 and 1 at #4- they never had a #1 hit. No one has had as many #2 hits without reaching #1. While I would recommend all seven Creedence Clearwater Revival albums-if you were to only own one I would recommend the double album Chronicle Vol. 1 which collects all twenty of their charted singles. Essential. The singles here- “Travelin’ Band” and “Who’ll Stop The Rain” appear on their most celebrated album “Cosmos Factory.” From 1968-70 CCR released six albums- that is mind boggling.
Yup and yup!
