Country music star Roy Clark is best remembered today for his stint as co-host on the cornball country music show Hee Haw. It’s a shame because Clark was a very talented musician as a guitarist, banjo player and fiddle player. On the Billboard Hot 100 Pop Chart- Clark had 6 Hot 100 singles – his only Top 40 hit being “Yesterday When I Was Young” #19 in 1969. On the Country Singles Chart he had 52 chart singles from 1963-89. Roy Clark died in November 2018 at the age of 85.
While “Then She’s A Lover” would be filed under country- it’s more easy listening and certainly doesn’t showcase Clark’s talents as a musician.
Nice one. I don’t remember hearing it before.
Yea this one didn’t showcase his playing. I listen to Roy like I listen to Jimi Hendrix…I like a good song but I want to hear them express themselves on guitar.
It kind of reminds me of that song, “Honey”.
