VINYL ALBUMS

• THE WHO: WHO ARE YOU: 1978: 4 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: VINYL: Not a great Who album by any means but it has its moments- like the title track. Keith Moon died shortly after the albums release- making the album cover a curiosity- Not To Be Taken Away? Keith Moon had to be the oldest looking 32 year old I’ve seen.

• HANK WILLIAMS JR: GREATEST HITS: 1982: 4 1/2 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: VINYL: This greatest hits covers Hank Jr in his prime the mid 70’s to early 80’s. He has to be a candidate for the greatest son/daughter of a legend in music- my vote would go to Roseanne Cash but Hank Jr has to be considered. Seems like a lot of children of great athletes have been highly successful- stars- but as far as music goes- the list would be short. I can’t imagine getting into music with your father having been The Hillbilly Shakespeare.

• BOZ SCAGGS: SILK DEGREES: 1976: 5 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: VINYL: Boz Scaggs big hit album- the songs on this were all over the radio in the mid- 70’s- and they deserved to be-  the album went to #2 on the album chart and there were 4 hit singles on the album- and “We’re All Alone” the closer was a hit for Rita Coolidge.

OTHER MUSIC LISTENING:

• BIG STAR: THIRD/ SISTER LOVERS: 1978: 4 1/2 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: IPOD: Of the three Big Star albums before they broke up- this is the darkest by far. The band was breaking up as they were recording it- the members were losing interest. It took me many listens to really get into this one but the effort was worth it. I prefer the first two albums but this is a good one.
