666. “I’ll Never Fall In Love Again”- Dionne Warwick. Scepter. Pop. Written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David B-Side: What The World Needs Now is Love.” Peaked at #6 11 weeks on the chart. The 5th Hot 100 single from Dionne Warwick in 1969- 4 of which made the Top 40. Dionne Warwick covering Bacharach/ David and Glen Campbell covering Jimmy Webb in this era- money in the bank. Bacharach and David wrote the song for the musical “Promises Promises” in 1968. Bacharach and David were nominated for a Grammy for Song of the Year but lost out to Joe South and “Games People Play” Warwick would win a Grammy for Best Contemporary Vocal Performance, Female. Grade: A+
667. “The Thrill Is Gone”- B.B. King. Bluesway. Blues. Written by Rick Darrell and Roy Hawkins. B-side:”You’re Mean” Peaked at #15 14 weeks on the chart. B.B. King’s biggest pop hit. Won him a Grammy for R&B Male Vocal Performance. Grade: A+

I’ve heard ‘Thrill’ a zillion times. here’s to another zillion. Not only can he play the guitar like no one else he has the perfect vocal to go with it.
I saw BB once at a Blues Festival- certainly a thrill!!
I have long listening history with BB. When you hear that kind of music at a young age it sort of sets the tone for future listening.
