“Surrender” hit #1 in both on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US and on the UK Singles Chart in early 1961 and became one of the best selling singles of all time. It was adopted by songwriters Doc Pomus and Mort Shuman from the 1902 Neapolitan  ballad “Come Back To Sorrento.” In all the songwriting team of Pomus and Shuman wrote 25 songs that Elvis recorded. Elvis would only have two more #1 hits in his career after “Surrender.”
