If you have turned on a television in the past few weeks no doubt you have heard this song from a now highly controversial commercial. Tal Bachman -the son of Randy Bachman of The Guess Who and Bachman Turner Overdrive- had a hit in 1999 with “She’s So High” #14 on the Billboard Singles chart.
I didn’t realise they were related.
I remember hearing it when the song was out- I don’t think he has had any other hits…or albums in a long time. -the son.
Sorry, this song makes my skin crawl. Go figure. π
I totally dig that song and got the CD at the time it came out. It also makes me wonder what ever happened to Tal Bachman, since after that song and album, I donβt recall hearing anything else from him.
As for the ad, I hardly watch TV these days and frankly had missed the controversy about the ad. Prompted by your post, I watched it and read some of the media coverage.
While I agree that advertisers should avoid communicating unhealthy body images, in this particular case, I feel the negative reactions are completely overblown.
I remember the song. It was OK. Didn’t know he was Randy’s son. That is an interesting tidbit.
I had to read up on the commercial. I was clueless.
I haven’t seen the commercial, but I’ll be watching for it now. I loved the song, but apparently never paid attention to the lyrics. I didn’t realize the connection to BTO. That’s cool, anyway.
I love the song and the video, that “angel” is gorgeous! She looks an awful lot like the woman in the TV commercial. I agree with Christian, the negative reactions are way overblown. I’d be ecstatic to get one of those bikes for a gift!
Well, it’s the age of “get offended by sneezing” now, isn’t it? I didn’t know about the commercial either. But really, like….come on!
I agree with you…
