569. “We Love You, Call Collect”- Art Linkletter and his daughter Diane. Capitol. Spoken Word. Written by Martin Wark and Ralph Carmichael. B-side:”Dear Mom and Dad.” Peaked at #42- 6 weeks on the chart. This won a Grammy in 1970 for Best Spoken Word Recording. It would enter the charts a month after Diane Linkletter died at 20 of suicide. Father Art always blamed her death on LSD. Art Linkletter an old radio and television personality died in 2010 at the ripe old age of 97. Grade: D

I like the Jackie Deshannon song, first time hearing it, Dock of the Bay sped up like they did is sacrilege! One month after his daughter’s suicide he is reading a letter someone else wrote about his daughter’s death in a robotic voice? Something really creepy about that. Bob was singing in his “Lay Lady Lay” voice lol

Yes, vaguely. I know it was in B&W. Seems like it was similar to candid camera (or was it candid camera?) where the kids were talking/being filmed without knowing it.
Yes It was something on that order- was it called Kids Say The Darndest Things or something like that?
Yes it was. Not sure if he had two different shows or the one and it was that name. It’s a vague memory but I remember liking the show.
