Every Entry Into The Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart- 1969- Part 147. The four singles today entered the chart on September 6, 1969- “Runnin’ Blue”- The Doors, “Life And Death In G&A”- Abaco Dream, “Armstrong”- John Stewart and “Suasalito {Is The Place To Go}- Ohio Express.

470. “Runnin’ Blue”- The Doors. Elektra. Rock. Written by Robby Krieger. B-Side:”Do It.” Peaked at #64 and spent 6 weeks on the chart. The 3rd of 3 Hot 100  singles in 1969 for The Doors- none of them made the Top 40. Grade: A-

471. “Life And Death In G&A”- Abaco Dream. A&M. Soul. Written by Sly Stone. B-side:”Cat Woman.” Peaked at #74 and spent 6 weeks on the chart. The only Hot 100 hit by this R&B group out of New York City. This song does have that Sly Stone sound to it. Grade: B

472. “Armstrong”- John Stewart. Capitol. Pop. Written by John Stewart. B-side:”Anna On A Memory.” Peaked at #74 and spent 3 weeks in the Hot 100. John Stewart’s first Hot 100 single- he would go ten years before he had his second on- his only three Top 40 hits came in 1979 with “Gold”#5, “Midnight Wind”-#28 and “Lost Her In The Sun”- #34. The biggest hit he ever wrote- “Daydream Believer” for The Monkees. “Armstrong” lists all the horrible things going on at the time on earth and of course they all watched Armstrong walk on the Moon. Grade: B

473. Suasalito [Is The Place To Go}- Ohio Express. Buddah. Pop. Written by Graham Gouldman [future lead singer for 10cc} B-side:”Make Love Not War.’ Peaked at #86 and spent 2 weeks on the chart. The last of 9 Hot 100 hits for the bubblegum studio band. Grade. C
