The 3rd of 4 Hot 100 hits in 1969 for The Isley Brothers. Their biggest hit came in the spring with #2 “It’s Your Thing.” Grade: B-

463. “The Ways To Love A Man”- Tammy Wynette. Epic. Country. Written by Glenn Sutton and Tammy Wynette. B-side:”Still Around.” Peaked at #81 and spent 4 weeks on the chart. Tammy Wynette’s biggest hit came in 1968 with “Stand By Your Man”#19 on the pop chart. It was her only pop Top 40 hit. Grade: B-
I like the BB song and I got about 1:30 into Isley Brothers. Only made it a minute into Tammy’s song. Those lyrics are unreal!
As someone pointed out in the Ken Burns series- it sounds like Tammy wrote Loretta Lynn’s songs- and Loretta wrote Tammy’s- Loretta married to the same man all her life- Tammy changed husbands on a moments notice.
