For all of Dolly Parton’s talents- one that doesn’t get recognized as it should is her gigantic -songwriting talents. Over the years she has written a lot of great songs- I will no doubt eventually feature such songs as “Joshua”, “I Will Always Love You”, “Coat Of Many Colors”- my favorite is “Jolene” her second #1 from 1973. Dolly was nominated for two Grammy Awards for this song and Rolling Stone magazine ranked it at #217 in their 500 Greatest Songs Ever list. According to Dolly the song was inspired by a bank clerk who was flirting with her husband when they were newly married.

You know…I’ve met people who didn’t like artists of all different sorts…but never have I met someone who didn’t like Dolly Parton and Johnny Cash. I’m sure out there somewhere they are there.
My ex- brother in law didn’t like Johnny Cash…. but then again he doesn’t like very much!
