340. “Don’t Tell Your Mama [Where You’ve Been}- Eddie Floyd. Stax. Soul. Written by Eddie Floyd and Booker T. Jones. B-side: “Consider Me.” Eddie Floyd had 10 Hot 100 hits and 3 Top 40 hits. His biggest hit was “Bring It On Home To Me” #17 in 1968- his best known song “Knock On Wood” #28 in 1966- a cover by Amii Stewart went to #1 in 1979. “Don’t Tell Your Mama”- peaked at #73 and spent 7 weeks on the chart. 341. ” Forever”- Mercy. Warner Bros- Seven Arts. Pop. Written by E. Killen, B-side:”The Mornings Come.” Mercy had 2 Hot 100 hits both in 1969- the other one -from earlier in the year was a big hit- “Love { Can Make You Happy} #2. “Forever” peaked at #79 and spent 5 week on the chart. Grade: C+

342. “I’m Still A Struggling Man”- Edwin Starr. Gordy. Soul. Written by Doris McNeil and Johnny Bristol. B-side:”Pretty Little Angel.” Born Charles Hatcher-in Tennessee but raised in Cleveland, Ohio- Edwin Starr had 3 hits in 1969- this was his second of the year. His big hit was “Twenty-Five Miles” #6 earlier in the year. Of course he is remembered most for his #1 hit in 1970- “War.” “I’m Still A Struggling Man” peaked at #80 and spent 4 weeks on the chart. Grade: B-
All 3 are ok, the middle one way too slow-paced. I remember the middle song.
