Every Entry Into The Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart- 1969- Part 106. The three singles for today all come from the week of June 28, 1996. “Reconsider Me”- Johnny Adams, ” Abraham, Martin and John’- Moms Mabley and “Muddy River”- Johnny Rivers.

334. “Reconsider Me” -Johnny Adams. SSS International. Soul. Written by Margaret Lewis and Mira Smith. B-side: ” If I Could See You One More Time.” Johnny Adams- “The Tan Canary” born in New Orleans- had 3 Hot 100 singles in his career-this was his only Top 40 hit- it peaked at #28 and spent 8 weeks on the chart. Grade: B+

335. “Abraham, Martin and John”- Moms Mabley. Mercury. Soul. Written by Dick Holler. B-Side:” Sunny”- Moms Mabley was a comedienne/ actress who released 13 comedy albums in her career. This was her only entry into the Hot 100- yet another late 1960’s version of “Abraham, Martin and John- it did crack the Top 40 peaking at #35 and spent 6 weeks on the chart. Grade: B-

336. “Muddy River”- Johnny Rivers. Imperial. Pop. Written by James Hendricks. B-Side:” Resurrection.” Johnny Rivers 2 and of 4 1969 Hot 100 singles- none made the Top 40. “Muddy River” peaked just short of it at #41 and 11 weeks on the chart. Rivers would have a few down years until 1972 when he caught the “Rockin’ Pneumonia And The Boogie Woogie Flu #6.  Grade: B-

  1. Johnny Adams sounds a LOT like Tom Jones or is that vice versa. Great vocals and lyrics. The Moms one is touching the way she sings it. Johnny’s voice sounds a little weak here but the song is good.
