The Sounds of Summer- Day 76 of 95- “Sweet Child O’ Mine”- Guns N’ Roses. The first thing that enters my mind when I think of the summer of 1988 is how hot and humid it was all summer -at least where I was living it was. Hot every day and very little rain. When I think of music that summer the first song that comes to mind is this one- “Sweet Child O’ Mine” which was released in June of that year. It was the third single from Appetite For Destruction- and it went to #1. The lyrics written by W. Axl Rose was based on his girlfriend at the time- Erin Everly- the daughter of Don Everly. They would later be married briefly. In reading up on it- Axl and David Bowie once came to blows over Erin Everly— article below and then the video.

“I’m gonna kill you, TIN MAN.” Wow! That was a humorous article. I didn’t realize Bowie was such a womanizer! And he and Mick had a thing at some point???
Supposedly at least once…according to his ex wife.
Axl did seem to be a bit of a loose cannon. Was Tin Man one of Bowie’s nicknames?
He had a group Tin Machine….
It seems weird that either one of them would have anything to do with the daughter of an Everly. The whole story sounds whacked out!
