310. “The Girl I’ll Never Know [Angels Never Fly This Low}- Frankie Valli. Phillips. Pop. Written by L. Russell Brown and Raymond Bloodworth. B-side: “A Face Without A Name.” As a solo artist Frankie Valli had 14 Hot 100 singles with 9 making the Top 40- he had 2 solo #1 hits in the 1970’s- 1974’s “My Eyes Adored You” and 1978’s “Grease.” “The Girl I’ll Never Know”-peaked at #52 and spent 7 weeks in the Hot 100. Grade: C

311. “Don’t Wake Me Up In The Morning, Michael”- The Peppermint Rainbow. Decca. Pop. Written by Paul Leka and Shelley Pinz. B-side: “Rosemary.” A pop group out of Baltimore- The Peppermint Rainbow only hit the Hot 100 twice and it was with this song song both times- in 1966 it went to #32 and was re-released for some reason in 1969 and peaked at #54 spending 9 weeks on the chart. Grade: C+

312. “Tell All The People”- The Doors. Elektra. Rock. Written by Robby Krieger. B-side: ” Easy Ride.” 1969 wasn’t a great year for The Doors- with Jim Morrison’s problems with the law and drinking etc–on the charts they had 3 Hot 100 singles and none of them made the Hot 100- this the 2nd of the 3- peaked at #57 and spent 9 weeks in the Hot 100. Grade: B.
The Doors one sounds pretty good, but so slow-paced, which would make sense for stoners to lay back and listen to 🙂
