The Sounds of Summer- Day 48 of 95- “Daydream”- The Lovin’ Spoonful. This song always reminds me of a lazy summer afternoon. “Daydream” was The Lovin’ Spoonful’s third hit single released -was released in late February 1966, it would be their biggest hit up to that point reaching #2- kept out of the #1 slot by {You’re My } Soul and Inspiration by The Righteous Brothers. “Daydream” was the Spoonful”s John Sebastian’s attempt at re-writing The Supreme’s “Baby Love.”

  1. This song is impossible not to like. They remind me of The Rascals…not musically really but a completely singles band.

    • I think that is why I thought of Daydream- after the Rascals yesterday it seemed natural to go to the Spoonful . Great singles bands indeed!

  2. Lovin Spoonful is a perfect name for the band and their music. Good choice in your summer song line-up (which has been very enjoyable to hear each day this summer.)
