Hans Remembers- News Headlines from Saturday August 2- Sunday August 3, 1969.

- Saturday August 2, 1969- another unpredictable Bob Dylan move- he turns up at his 10th class reunion in Hibbing, Minnesota. But he doesn’t even make it to the reunion- just the before reunion gathering at the local Moose- with his wife Sara. Of course his appearing- and being off in a corner-there was a line of folks going over to talk to him- which some didn’t like because it made him seem special… and some jaggoff tried to start a fight with him so Dylan left before it actually began. I wonder if they had a 60th reunion of his class this summer? Dylan Lives!

- President Richard Milhous Nixon became the first U.S. President to visit the capital of a communist country arriving in Bucharest, Romania. He was the guest of Romanian President Nicolae Ceausescu. Nixon’s presidency of course had a poor ending but it wasn’t as bad as Ceausescu’s turned out to be.

- Sunday August 3, 1969- California’s Governor Ronald “Dutch” Reagan dedicated the 2.1 mile long Coronado Bridge over San Diego Bay- which is high enough at 224 feet to allow the U.S. Navy ships to travel underneath it. The toll bridge was opened at 12:01 AM for traffic- with the toll being .60 cents to cross. In 2002 it became the last bridge in California to discontinue tolls.
I’d never read that about Dylan. How interesting. It’s unfortunate some idiot wrecked the occasion for him and Sara
I wonder if he’s ever went back to a reunion? probably not. He does unpredictable things doesn’t he- i can’t see him being a reunion type of guy.
I couldn’t ever see him as a laid back family man either but that happened. Yes a school reunion on top of that is something un Dylan like considering he didn’t attend his own Nobel ceremony.
Didn’t know that about Bob… of course, someone had to ruin it.
