The Sounds of Summer- Day 43 of 95. “Bus Stop”- The Hollies. “Bus Stop” was written by Graham Gouldman- a future member of 10cc- was The Hollies first Top 10 hit in the United States #5 in 1966. The song is about a love starting by his sharing his umbrella at the bus stop in the summer. The Hollies- like The Beatles- were influenced by Buddy Holly in many ways including how they got their name- Graham Nash has written they got the name from their admiration of Buddy Holly- and Christmas. The song also joins groups like The Beatles, The Kinks and The Byrds- on “Bus Stop” the guitar sounds very sitar like.
