The Sounds Of Summer- Day 42/95- ‘4th Of July, Asbury Park {Sandy} by Bruce Springsteen. I know the 4th of July is nearly a month ago- but better late than never for this great summer song from Bruce. This song was released on Bruce’s second album The Wild, The Innocent and The E-Street Shuffle in 1973. Not my favorite Bruce album but this is one of the highlights -along with “Rosalita.” It is a great study of the boardwalk life on the Jersey shore- a life that Bruce grew up in. Released as a single it didn’t make the Hot 100. A great song but not a great release as a single.
