‘Time To Play B-Sides”- “Mandolin Wind”- Rod Stewart. ‘Mandolin Wind” is the b-side to Rod Stewart’s “I Know I”m Losing You” both songs were off of his finest album “Every Picture Tells A Story” in 1971. Where “I Know I’m Losing You” is a hard rocking cover of a hit originally by The Temptations- “Mandolin Wind”-written by Stewart is a ballad. A mainly acoustic song- the song features a mandolin to great effect. After “Maggie May” I’d say this is the second best song on the album. Rod’s best album- an excellent mixture of originals and covers. I am not much of a fan of Rod’s from the late 70’s on- but if you don’t own “Every Picture Tells A Story”- do yourself a favor and get it/ give it a listen.
Agree on that — definitely worth owning (streaming?!)
Yes the days of having to own something are over aren’t they..
Yeah. I held on tight but…now streaming is just fine thanks. Perhaps a vinyl collection is still a good thing…if you have a good set up
i have been buying more vinyl… but my CD days are over for the most part.
You’re right, Hans, it’s a beautiful song on a beautiful album. There is something holistic about it that brings joy.
