The Sounds of Summer- Day 23 of 95- “Here Comes The Summer”- The Undertones. The Undertones were a punk rock band from Northern Ireland. “Here Comes The Summer” was written by the bands principal songwriter John O’Neill. The song from 1978 was inspired by The Ramones and was released on their first album in 1979- the self-titled The Undertones. It’s a very short song at 1:46 but like The Ramones- The Undertones get right to the point. As a single in the UK -“Here Comes The Summer” peaked at #34. The Undertones had seven Top 40 hits in the UK from 1978-82. They never made the charts in the U.S.  I hadn’t heard this song until a few months ago when it was played on Celtic Crush.
