1969 Song of the Day is “Let Me” by Paul Revere And The Raiders. Let Me- was written by the lead singer for the band Mark Lindsay. It peaked at #20 on the Billboard Hot 100 and would rank at #100 on the year end Billboard singles chart for the entire year. Paul Revere and The Raiders were a band out of Boise, Idaho of all places which formed in 1958. Their first album was released in 1961. They had their first hit that year with Like, Long Hair which made the Top 40 peaking at #38. They wouldn’t have more success until 1965 when they returned to the charts with Just Like Me #11 and their best song/hit Kicks #4. I am not much into Paul Revere and The Raiders- I was a little shocked to see they had 15 Top 40 hits in their career including 1 #1 1971’s Indian Reservation. I may have to at least listen to a good greatest hits/ best of of the band, some of the hits are familiar some are not. Their last hit was in 1971- their last album released in 1983- there is still a band out there at your local Holiday Inn tonight playing under the name. Mark Lindsay isn’t with this band- I’ll pass.

  1. Paul was a kick in the britches to hang out with. I had the pleasure of being there when he opened his venue in Reno back in the day. Always smiling, always laughing, always a good guy.

  2. I think Paul Revere and the Raiders had a TV show at one point? I can remember them introducing guests… I like their sound and I had a crush on Mark Lindsay lol

    • I don’t remember a tv show but that’s not to say it didn’t happen- maybe I just missed it by a year or so..
