1969 Song of the Day- “I’m Gonna Make You Mine”- Lou Christie. The single released in the summer of 1969 reached #10 on the Billboard Hot 100. “I’m Gonna Make You Mine” was written by Tony Romeo. Lou Christie was born Lugee Sacco in Glenwillard, Pennsylvania- a suburb of Pittsburgh. His first big hit was Two Faces Have I a 1963 hit- but his biggest hit was a 1965 #1 “Lightening Strikes.” “I”m Gonna Make You Mine” would be his final Top 40 hit. His music reminds me of The Four Seasons with that falsetto of his -which isn’t necessarily a good thing. I do like “Lightening Strikes” a lot. This one is- ok. Being from the Pittsburgh area over the years you hear his name a lot since he was one of the locals who made it big. Christie has spent the past five decades hitting the oldies circuit.
This song is so up, it’s wonderful. Looks like they were trying to sell him as a sex symbol. Love the low budget video at the hotel lol. So many years since hearing it.
Not a song you hear that often on the radio- I can’t remember how long it has been.
Thanks. Much underestimated.

Ha-ha, forgot about this one. My friends and I so tried to dress like the girls in the video. Hard to do when you’re 13. Is that a hair shirt he’s wearing under the vest?
