Songs I Like By Artists I Don’t- ‘Help Is On Its Way”-by Little River Band. It isn’t that I dislike Little River Band its more like- having liked their first hit single “Help Is On Its Way- I was disappointed in what came afterwards. “Help Is On Its Way” reached #14 on the Billboard Hot 100 in late 1977. It was written by LRB’s singer Glenn Shorrock. I still have the single of it. For a brief period of time- 1977-83 in the United States they Little River Band put 10 singles into the Top 20- the highest peaking being “Reminiscing” which reached #3 in 1978. My mine gripe against these guys is most of their hits-sound the same- soft rock- easy listening. I can’t say I dislike them but the only song of theirs that I want to hear is “Help Is On Its Way.’ I had a friend back then- Stewie- who just loved Little River Band- which kind of puzzled me. They were one of his favorite bands. Little River Band is still around but none of the original members are still with the band.
You’re sure a picky guy when it comes to music. “Reminiscing” is such a pleasing song.
I find it boring… I am going to try and milk 4 more days on this feature and then move on to something else- a little more positive.
We live in Australia and our friends can’t work out why we don’t like them. They may be considered an Aussie icon but for us their music is just mush!
a good description as any I can think of for them- MUSH!
I love LRB but, mostly, the Glenn Shorrock years. Nelson was good. So was Farnham. They still tour but, aren’t the same band.
used to call them the Little River Yawn, a step down from even elevator music 🙂
Love your description! Well put and true.
Sad too, some of these groups never realised their true potential. Thanks.
