Songs I Like by Artists I Don’t- “All Night Long {All Night} by Lionel Richie. All Night Long was a #1 hit for Lionel Richie in late 1983. Don’t get me wrong I am listing Lionel here strictly as a solo artist- I loved his earlier work with The Commodores. His work grew increasingly wimpy as a solo artist- he may have had a run of big hits but a lot of them well well written songs- seemed to sound the same to me- Endless Love, Truly, Hello, Say You Say Me -especially are a snore- but All Night Long has some bounce to it. Maybe it was just the changing times but I always found it odd how Richie who had as a solo artist from 1981-86 scored 13 straight Top 10 singles- all the sudden fell off the map.

All Night Long- is a song with Caribbean influences- and what some thought were African lyrics were just made up gibberish made up by Lionel. Richard Marx contributed back ground vocals- this was still a few years before his solo career would begin.
