The Rolling Stones Song of the Day is- Stop Breaking Down. Stop Breaking Down is song 2 on side 4 of Exile On Main St. It is a song written by the great King of the Delta Blues- Robert Johnson. The Johnson original was recorded back in 1937 during his last recording session in Dallas, Texas. A number of blues artists over the years would play the song. The Rolling Stones version features Mick Taylor on the slide guitar and Mick Jagger on harmonica and guitar. The Rolling Stones version is twice as long as Johnson’s original. Over the years The Rolling Stones have only performed this song one time on their Voodoo Lounge Tour with Robert Cray on slide guitar and singing lead vocals. A number of artists have covered the song after The Stones did- most notably Lucinda Williams, Eric Clapton and Todd Rundgren.
