Hans Worst Hits of the 80’s – “The Goonies ‘R” Good Enough’ by Cyndi Lauper. It was a song from the soundtrack of the movie The Goonies. Even Cyndi herself says that she hates this song. She never included it on any of her albums not even any of her Greatest Hits-/ Best of-s until The Essential Cyndi Lauper in 2003. She was coming off of her smash album She’s So Unusual which had 3 Top 10 hits and 4 Top 40 hits- that was a fine album this was a misstep artistically- the song was annoying- at least it wasn’t a catchy song so it wont be in my head all day after listening to it again. It did go to #10 on the Billboard Top 40- must have been the combination of a popular movie and a current hot artist. For a number of years Lauper dropped this from her concert set list- from 1987 to 2004. Not only did she hate the song but she always has said that the making of the video for it was a less than enjoyable experience. The video was the one with Captain Lou Albino in it and a number of wrestlers. The video brings back memories- the song though- blah!
I like Cyndi but this is just bland… like you said…it’s not catchy whatsoever…good or bad.
That’s Rowdy Roddy Piper!!!!!!! Over 7 minutes long on the video?? I got about 20 seconds of the song before stopping it. Good choice for worst of. Hey it is 49 degrees here today. Yippee!
it was 74 here -back to the 40’s tomorrow though.
74 nice! 40 ugh. Torrential rain when I went out to run errands. By the time I got back the sun was shining. The snow is melting bigtime and there’s definite risk of flooding right now.
Hope you aren’t in a flood zone… windy here but warm…
I don’t think in a formal one, but the water table is high around here, and the more trees they cut down the higher it gets. People don’t think of trees as water storage devices but they are.
I do like the “Yeah yeah yeah yeah” part and the notes she hits up there. I had no idea what this song was until I heard it. I wonder why making the video wasn’t enjoyable: seems like it would be a lot of fun with all those wrestlers.
Oh my fault I should have added- the director of the video she said ruined it for her- he had her doing a million things and was very in control.
Gotcha. Nothing worse than a director like that. The kid from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom said Steven Spielberg was “really mean” to him the whole shoot!
