1969 Song of the Day is- “More Today Than Yesterday” by Spiral Starecase. Spiral Starecase was an American band from Sacramento, California. More Today Than Yesterday was written by lead singer/ guitarist Pat Upton. It would be the only hit Spiral Starecase would have- peaking at #12. The album it was on- also titled More Today Than Yesterday would be their only album- they disbanded due to poor management and fighting over money. More Today Than Yesterday has been a much covered song- Sonny and Cher, Diana Ross, Chicago [ it sounds like a Chicago type song with the horns} Andy Williams and may others have done it. I mentioned Chicago covered it in 2013- why did it take them so long- I am thinking that sometimes when I heard this song over the years I thought it WAS Chicago.
Nice mellow top 40 type of song.
Know the song didn’t know it was this group. I think I first heard a version by Diana Ross and just thought it was her song.
