  • The Vietnam War was still dragging on and on and on this date- the North Vietnamese Army and the Viet Cong launched the final state of the Tet Offensive in multiple provinces in southern Vietnam.  This spring offensive would lead President Richard Mother Trucking Nixon on June 8th to secretly carry the Vietnam War into bordering Cambodia. What happened to The Tricky Ones- 1968 campaign promise where he said he had a secret plan to end the war- that he couldn’t of course disclose at the time?  The Tet Offensive overall- a military defeat for the North Vietnamese and Viet Cong but  was a political and psychological victory for them and is considered the turning point in the war.

  • Born on this date 50 years ago was actor Thomas Jane- best known for the HBO series Hung which ran from 2009-2011- pretty good show. He has also been in scores of movies and was once married to actress Patricia Arquette. Arquette’s first husband was Nicholas Cage- who was briefly married to The King’s daughter Lisa Marie. Or you can take it in another direction- Cage is the nephew of director Francis Ford Coppola and actress Talia Shire. Shire was married to Rocky Balboa at least in the movies… ok I will stop.

  1. I’ve never heard of the show Hung. I looked it up and it sounds like it was the prostitution version of Breaking Bad.
