THE ROLLING STONES SONG OF THE DAY– 2000 LIGHT YEARS FROM HOME

The Rolling  Stones Song of the Day is–2000 Light Years From Home. Written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards it is the penultimate song on Their Satanic Majesties Request. Along with  She’s A Rainbow- I’d rank this as the best song on the album. Mick wrote this song in his cell at Brixton Prison during the nights of June 29-30, 1967- having been sentenced to three months in jail for possession of Benzedrine. He would be released on bail the following day. 2000 Light Years From Home was the b-side to She’s A Rainbow. Musically Brian Jones was at it again this time on the mellotron and super sessionman Nicky Hopkins plays the intro and outro on the piano.

    • They need to do more of these kind of songs in concert and less of the standards they have done concert tour after concert tour. They have a great catalog of songs- use them fellas!
