Hans Worst Hits of the 80’s- the mid to late 80’s were populated with hair bands. I hated hair bands – they for the most part to me sounded the same and looked moronic. I realized I haven’t featured any songs from hair bands- maybe I have just blocked the entire movement from my memory.  Luckily the hey day of the hair day didn’t last long. One of the worst of the hair bands in my opinion- was Poison. I could have picked out any song of theirs to feature as a Worst Hit- because they were all garbage [in my opinion of course} but I will go with Every Rose Has Its Thorn simply because it was their biggest hit and the one that polluted the radio airwaves the most. Talk Dirty To Me their first hit was also under consideration- what a piece of junk that was.

This ‘power ballad’- that seems to be an 80’s thing- power ballads- Bret Michaels was ‘inspired’ to write this- he was in a laundromat one night waiting for his hair to dry- no waiting for his clothes to dry and called his girlfriend on the pay phone- he heard a male voice in the background and was devastated. He then wrote this song. Just think if he had hadn’t made that phone call. Hair bands were a bigger offense to music than disco.

  1. This is my pick for the worst of the 80s. I would mock the song to hair metal fans…using a semi-obscene word for “thorn”…
