- JOHN LENNON: THE JOHN LENNON COLLECTION: 1982: 5 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: December 8th is one of those dates that sticks with me for a terrible reason. A pretty good collection- the hits are here and some album tracks. There are better compilations out there now but this was on heavy rotation for me at the time of release.
- STEVE EARLE: I FEEL ALRIGHT: 1996: 5 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: One of the keys to Steve’s recovery of drug addiction was becoming a workaholic. After the bluegrass comeback the year before- a more Americana album- for a number of years Steve would be releasing an album a year and touring for each album. Steve’s output from 1995 into the 2000’s was outstanding in quality.
- STEVE EARLE: EL CORAZON: 1997: 5 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: Another home run from Stephen Fain Earle. Voted by the AP as one of the best albums of 1997- I can’t argue. I’d even rank it higher than I Feel Alright- in the number of great songs. Included is Fort Worth Blues his tribute to one of his heroes and role models- Townes Van Zandt.
