ALBUMS

- STEVE EARLE: TRAIN A COMIN’: 1995: 5 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: After nearly 5 years since his last album The Hard Way in 1990- and his battle with addiction- out of the blue I was in a record shop one day and there was a new Steve album. Train A Comin’ was the start of one of the great comebacks. A bluegrass album with some of the great bluegrass musicians ever- Peter Rowan, Norman Blake and Roy Huskey and Miss Emmylou Harris also on the album. I saw the tour and it may be my favorite Steve concert ever. Love this album. USA Today named it the top country album of that year.
I bought the CD for 25c at a work fundraiser flea market and had never heard of Steve Earle. Threw it on the CD player and never looked back. This CD kicks ass. He does a beautiful cover of Townes VanZandt’s, “Tecumsah Valley”. “Sometimes She Forgets” is the quintessential country song. And you already know by favorite song by him is on here, “Goodbye”. Great choice for listening.
Goodbye is a great song–and of course a cover of The Beatles “I’m Looking Through You” on here too. I think some country act-maybe it was Travis Tritt had a hit with Sometimes She Forgets.
oh right forgot about The Beatles cover… will look for the TT cover…
Yes great album. After I first heard it I was thrilled since I knew he was back – start of strong set of albums over next 5 or so years.
