ALBUMS

  • LED ZEPPELIN: LED ZEPPELIN: 1969: 5 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: I listened to the first two Led Zeppelin albums today with just one question in mind- I knew the answer before hand but still– Did Led Zeppelin make the right decision in late 1980 to quit as a band with the passing of John Bonham? The answer- I can’t see how he could have been replaced- they made the right decision. How would you even begin to replace one of the best if not the best rock drummer? The first Led Zeppelin album was not well received by critics upon release-but over the years the reviews of course have improved. If I had to describe this album in one would I’d say-heavy! Favorites- Good Times, Bad Times, You Shook Me, Dazed and Confused, Your Time Is Gonna Come, Communication Breakdown.

  • LED ZEPPELIN: II: 1969: 5 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: The mighty Led Zeppelin released two albums in 1969-the debut in January and the second album in October. I described the debut album as heavy- I’d describe the second album- as heavier. Whole Lotta Love was actually a hit single #4 in the US. They were never a singles band- they had 6 Top 40 hits in their career in the USA. Other favorites- The Lemon Song, Heartbreaker, Ramble On, Bring It On Home.

  1. I was going to comment on how Zep borrowed, but then thought a little anecdote someone told me would be nicer.
He lived in a shared flat. Coming home late from the pub (well happy) he put on his headphones, LZII on the deck and the volume cranked up to high. Only after twenty minutes did the pounding on his door alert him to the fact that he had forgotten to set the amp to headphones only.
