The 8th #1 hit of 1968 has become one of the most iconic songs of the year- a song from one of the greatest movies of the 1960’s- The Graduate. The song of course Simon and Garfunkel’s- Mrs. Robinson. Mrs. Robinson went to the #1 slot on June 1st and stayed there for three weeks. Simon and Garfunkel had three #1 hits in their career- The Sound of Silence, Mrs. Robinson and then at the end of their run “Bridge Over Troubled Water.” I always loved this song, being a baseball fanatic because of the line “Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio.”  When the Yankee Clipper met Paul Simon he asked him “Why are you singing where have I gone? I haven’t gone anywhere.” Obviously Joe D didn’t get it. Simon a big baseball fan would sing the song at Yankee Stadium when they had the tribute to DiMaggio after his death.
