The Rolling Stones Song of the Day is- I Just Want To Make Love To You. I Just Want To Make Love To You- was written by the great blues songwriter Willie Dixon and originally performed by the immortal Muddy Waters.  The song was a big hit for Waters on the R&B chart reaching #4 in 1954. The Rolling Stones cover is the second song on their debut album- the self-titled The Rolling Stones released in 1964. The song has been covered more famously by Etta James #5 in the UK in 1966 and Foghat #33 in 1977 in the US and also covered by many other artists- Rod Stewart, The Animals, The Kinks, Van Morrison, Chuck Berry, Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers – the list is endless. While The Rolling Stones version- and face it most of this album has been put to the side for more famous originals by The Stones- it is a good but not great  performance. It is more uptempo than Muddy’s original. One of the negatives in the early catalog here of The Rolling Stones is the production- Andrew Loog Oldham was learning by doing may be a good way of saying it. I Just Want To Make Love To You- was released also as b-side to “Tell Me.”
