It was fifty years ago today- September 6, 1968- Eric Clapton was giving George Harrison a lift to the Abbey Road studio- into London. George had suggested earlier in the day that Eric might want to contribute to his recording of While My Guitar Gently Weeps. Eric was understandably reluctant- “because no one plays on Beatles sessions”- George’s reply was “so what it’s my song.”– and in probably the most famous instance of an outsider playing with the Beatles in the studio- Eric Clapton gave a great performance on one of George’s best ever songs “While My Guitar Gently Weeps.”
My personal favorite of the Beatles songs. 🙂
Definitely one of the gems among George’s compositions and in the overall Beatles catalog.
One of the most beautiful guitar solos in rock.
I love that song now as much as the first time I heard it.
