It was fifty years ago today- August 2, 1968- Sirhan Sirhan a Palestinian with Jordanian citizenship- pleaded not guilty to the charges of murdering Senator and Presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy in June. Senator Kennedy has been shot in the early morning hours of June 5th after giving his victory speech after winning the California primary- at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles. Kennedy was shot three times- one in the head and twice in the back and died 26 hours later from his wounds.

Sirhan Sirhan went on trial in the spring of 1969 and was found guilty on April 17, 1969- and sentence to the gas chamber. Three years later the sentence was commuted to life in prison when California got rid of capital punishment. Sirhan is still living- he is now seventy- four years old. He is currently at the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility in San Diego. He will be up for parole again in 2021. I am not a big conspiracy person. I believe Lee Oswald was the assassin of President Kennedy and James Earl Ray was the assassin of Dr. King but this assassination has always left doubts in my mind.
