The Beatles Song Of The Day is “Your Mother Should Know” from The Beatles “Magical Mystery Tour” album. The song was written by Paul McCartney. The song was performed in The Magical Mystery Tour film during the grand finale, when The Beatles wearing tuxedos descend a long spiral staircase. The Beatles were clearly in a slump at this point with some of their songs, “Magical Mystery Tour’, “Flying”, “Blue Jay Way” and “Your Mother Should Know” throwaways as far as Beatle standards go. This song was written around the time Paul wrote “When I’m 64” with the same feeling of the old time music of when his parents were young. This song is pleasant but nothing special.   1. I was ten when I got MMT and I played this song over and over because it was so catchy… but I was ten… even Paul’s weak Beatle songs are catchy. Annoying as Maxwells Silver Hammer is… it is catchy.

    • This is true- Paul has a knack for writing catchy songs. I am not a huge fan of Hello, Goodbye- I like it well enough but never a favorite–again one of those catchy Paul songs-not his finest lyrics but a song that says in your head- just like “Your Mother Should Know”

  2. I’ve always liked the way Ringo’s snare pops in Your Mother Should Know. And, I feel the same about Hello, Goodbye. I think the promo film they did for it in their Pepper gear might have something to do with it. They look so disinterested on that stage.
