It was fifty years ago today- July 16, 1968- the second greatest running back in NFL history- Barry Sanders was born. Sanders played ten years for the Detroit Lions- from 1989-98- retiring at the peak of his career.Ā Sanders rushed for 15,269 yards- for a 5.0 average per -carry during his career. He averaged 99.8 yards a game.Ā If he had kept playing there is little doubt he would have broken the rushing record. I rank Sanders as the second greatest running back ever- who do I have at #1? Jim Brown. Even Barry Sanders father said that Jim Brown was the GOAT!
It’s a good thing I kept reading. I was about to ask who you thought was #1 and then hold my breath waiting for the answer. š haha
I guess its always opinion on the best of anything- I wish I had seen Jim Brown during his career and not just on tape. He looked like a man playing with boys.
Nice tribute.
I have Walter Payton at # 2 after Brown.
Not a bad choice there.
