Bill Gold was a graphic designer who made thousands of film poster designs- from 1942 when he did his first one “Yankee Doodle Dandy” to his final one- 2011’s “J. Edgar.” In between he did the posters for such classics as Casablanca”, The Exorcist”, “The Big Sleep”,”Giant”, “The Searchers”, “Bonnie and Clyde”, “Cool Hand Luke”,”The Outlaw Josey Wales” the list goes on and on. He did the posters for every movie Clint Eastwood did. What an interesting career.

He had a great run of it. One amazing legacy of work.
In the wikipedia article on him it said -after an unsuccessful retirement he came back to do the poster for Clint Eastwood’s “J. Edgar” The man worked into his 90s.
I love that Eastwood went to him too. Too many posters today are just Photoshop.
