The Beatles Song Of The Day is “Eight Days A Week.” “Eight Days A Week” was on The Beatles “Beatles For Sale” album. It was a number one hit single in the United States in February 1965. Paul and John wrote “Eight Days A Week” together with Paul writing the majority of it. The idea for the title came from a substitute chauffeur who was taking Paul to John’s house. When Paul asked him if he was busy the chauffeur replied ‘ Busy? I’ve been working eight days a week.” When he said it- there was the idea for the song. John didn’t think much of the song. In 1980 he said “Eight Days A Week” was never a good song. We struggled to record it and struggled to make it into a song. It was Paul’s initial effort but I think we both worked on it. I’m not sure…

Always liked the intro to that song, which was one of the first Beatles tunes I learned how to play with the guitar. I was really blessed with a great guitar teacher, who not only was a Beatles fan himself but also knew how to keep things interesting to continue motivating me to practice the classic guitar. Perhaps not surprisingly, I’m very fond of the song.

It was really my guitar teacher, who introduced me more broadly to The Beatles. He was also a bassist and taught me the basics for that instrument as well. Without him I likely wouldn’t have ended up playing in a band in my early 20s. I’m very grateful for all of that and wish I could tell him. Unfortunately, I completely lost touch and don’t know his whereabouts.
