ALBUMS-

  • THE BEATLES: MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR: 1967: 5 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: VINYL: The latest remaster on vinyl I picked up. Two of my favorite Beatles songs are on this- the great two sided single “Strawberry Fields Forever”/ “Penny Lane.” More of a collection of singles and odds than ends than an album The Beatles sat down to record. Came out right before the tv movie of the same name which was a big flop at the time. The album wasn’t a flop it went to #1.

  • BRANDI CARLILE: BRANDI CARLILE: 2005: 4 1/2 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: Hard to believe it has been thirteen years since Brandi Carlile’s debut, I still think of her six albums in as a relatively new artist. The debut shows a promising new artist- favorite songs on it- Follow, What Can I Say? In My Own Eyes, Closer and Happy. Enjoyable album.

  • THE DOO WOP BOX III: THE HITS: DISC 1: 2000: 3 1/2 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: Yesterday I finished the Doo Wop Box I and my intention was to go to the second box- but for some reason I put in the Doo Wop Box III in and was half way into the first disc when I realized my mistake so I will listen to this box and then go back to II. This disc is hit and miss- not as strong as the first box set and as I recall not as strong as box set II either. This disc was called “The Hits’ but I don’t recall having heard many of them before.
