On this day in 1961 Motown was celebrating- the record label had achieved it’s first #1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 with The Marvelettes- Please Mr. Postman. I looked it up and Motown has had 57 #1 hits- from it’s first in 1961 to its final one in 1997. Looking over the list -some of the greatest pop singles ever are among the list. Who had the most Motown #1’s? The Supreme’s had a dozen.
