• JIMMY WEBB: JUST ACROSS THE RIVER: 2010: 4 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: Webb is one of my all time favorite songwriters- Wichita Lineman, By The Time I Get To Phoenix, Galveston, MacArthur’s Park etc- so many hits for other people. He had made a dozen albums but has never had an album chart on his own or have any hits on his own. In this album-recorded in two days- he has a number of special guests- Billy Joel, Willie Nelson, Lucinda Williams, Linda Ronstadt, Glen Campbell, Jackson Browne etc- but its Jimmy Webb and his songs that stand out. I have Webb’s new biography on my stack of books to read.
