On this date in 1962- 35 years ago- Ringo Starr made his first performance was The Beatles drummer at the Hulme Hall, Port Sunlight, Cheshire. Pete Best had been dumped two days earlier- by Beatles manager Brian Epstein. Pete had his loyal followers and at first there were those who were upset by his sacking but it turned out to be the right move. Richy Starkey was the perfect drummer for The Beatles and the perfect person to fit right in with John, Paul and George.
