THEODORE ROOSEVELT NATIONAL PARK- THE BADLANDS OF NORTH DAKOTA

Theodore Roosevelt National Park in western North Dakota is jewel. I had been to 47 of the 48 in the continental United States- North Dakota was the one I was missing. To go to Theodore Roosevelt National Park- you have to want to go there. It is not one of those places ‘on the way’ to anywhere else but it was well worth the trip. I wouldn’t mind going back. It isn’t an over crowded place like say Yellowstone or the Grand Canyon which is a plus. A lot of wildlife- we were driving along the road and made a turn and saw hundreds of bison  making their way across the road in front of us. It was great just sitting there for 20-30 minutes and watching it. Some cars were impatient and made their way through the crowd- I didn’t understand why this isn’t something you see everyday- enjoy it.

  1. What a thrill! We recently went through northern North Dakota, but by train (no bison). Coming back we drove – through South Dakota with lots of pronghorn antelope. Travel is good.

    • Yes travel is great! To live in those parts you have to be good with being isolated.. the mall isn’t around the corner!
