Goal is to listen to 1500 different albums in a 12 month period.
TODAY- listened to 4 different albums. 96 day total 613 different albums. On pace for 2331.
- BOB DYLAN: OH MERCY: 1989: 4 1/2 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: Finally after two dismal albums- Bob is back. Part of the greatness of this album is its production by Daniel Lanois- there were critics who didn’t like it but this sounds like no previous Dylan album. The key to making it a good album though is the return of some excellent songs- favorites of mine on this and i like most of the album are “Ring Them Bells”, “Everything Is Broken”, “Shooting Star”, “Political World”, “Where Tear Drops Fall.”
- THE CARS: JUST WHAT I NEEDED: THE CARS ANTHOLOGY: 1995: 4 1/2 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: The first disc is stronger than the second due to The Cars two best albums being their first two albums. They were basically around ten years and released six albums. Everything you’d need is on these cd’s trust me- with 20 songs on each disc. I liked The Cars but wasn’t fanatical about them.
- THE CARS: JUST WHAT I NEEDED: THE CARS ANTHOLOGY: 1995: 3 1/2 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS:
- DAVID BOWIE: LODGER: 1979: 4 1/2 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: Another album that upon release got reviews all over the board some very poor but has grown in reputation since. “DJ” and “Boys Keep Swinging” on this one. The last of the Berlin Trilogy. Moby has said that the reason he got his first job as a golf caddy- was so that he could afford to buy Lodger when it came out. I think with Bowie’s passing last year there is a reassessment of his work that is and will continue to go on.
