Goal is to listen to 1500 different albums in a 12 month period.

TODAY- listened to 7 different albums. Total for 90 days- 583 different albums. On pace for 2364 different albums.

  • JOHNNY CASH: UNEARTHED IV: MY MOTHER’S HYMN BOOK: 2003: 5 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: Coming to the end [except for a best of] of the Johnny Cash American Recordings.
  • ELVIS COSTELLO: NATIONAL RANSOM: 2010: 4 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: As of now the last EC solo album {he put out an album with The Roots a few years later} He said years ago that this was his last album and seven years later he has stuck to that. Of course I hope he eventually releases new material. This album is much like his previous album  Secret, Profane and Sugarcane in sound. Highlights- Jimmie Standing In The Rain,  A Slow Drag With Josephine.
  • NEIL YOUNG AMERICANA: 2012: 4 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: Neil and Crazy Horse cover songs from the American songbook- including “This Land Is Your Land”, Oh Susannah” Clementine” etc in the Neil Young sound. You hear the songs in a different way.
  • THE AVETT BROTHERS: THE CARPENTER: 2012: 4 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: The follow up to the breakthrough “I And Love And You”- the song “The Carpenter” is one of my favorite Avett Brothers songs. The album in sound sounds familiar to the previous album which was the first produced by Rick Ruben. The problem to me starts with the next album which continues the same sound.
  • JAMES MCMURTRY: CHILDISH THINGS: 2005: 4 1/2 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: McMurtrey is an excellent songwriter but limited singer. One of my top songs of this century “We Can’t Make It Here” is on this album- a song that pretty much defines America so far in this century. “Childish Things” is another standout.
  • WILLIE NELSON: WHO’LL BUY MY MEMORIES: 1992: DISC 1: 4 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: Just Willie and his guitar and songs he has written. This albums sales were to go to the IRS to help pay some of Willie’s tax problems. “Who’ll Buy My Memories” paid over $3.6 million on Willie’s bill.
  • WILLIE NELSON: WHO’LL BUY MY MEMORIES: 1992: DISC 2: 4 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS:
