MY LIFE THROUGH MY T-SHIRT COLLECTION- JOHN COLTRANE

Three music legends were born on a September 23rd- in 1926 jazz giant John Coltrane, in 1930 one of the greatest all around singers of the 20th century- Ray Charles and in 1949 The Boss- Bruce Springsteen. How do you rank them? First and no disrespect to the man but out of these three to me Bruce is 3rd, and I have listened to Springsteen more than I have listened the other two but I think you can put Coltrane and Charles in the ‘genius’ department so it’s tough competition. If push comes to shove- I guess I’d put John Coltrane a gnat’s eyelash ahead of Charles but its a close one. Is there a more versatile singer than Ray Charles was? He was a master at any style of music. I remember a Ray Charles quote that always got me and with each year that passes I wonder how many people would say this today- in a world where so many people will do anything to be famous {or more than famous- infamous.}

“I never wanted to be famous, I only wanted to be great.”- Ray Charles

“I want to be a force for real good. In other words I know that there are bad forces that bring suffering to others and misery to the world. But I want to be the opposite force. I want to be the force which is truly for good.”– John Coltrane
