On this day in 1969 The Who released their ambitious double album- “Tommy.” A rock opera written mostly by Pete Townshend- loosely tells the story of a deaf, dumb and blind boy. This is The Who’s most celebrated album [but far from their best in my opinion- Who’s Next blows it away} Tommy would become an industry in itself over the years with a movie, broadway musical, The Who would tour playing the album. It’s good don’t get me wrong and very ambitious but the story isn’t that well told. I’ve always thought it was a tad overrated. I could be wrong.
